Affirmations: What They Are and How to Use Them

What are affirmations and how do you use them?

Affirmations are short intentional statements. They allow you to consciously be in control of your thoughts. These are the words and thoughts that will shape your reality. To affirm is to say something firmly declaring it positively and with the intention of it being the truth or become the truth. Saying affirmations regularly, you are telling your brain to prioritize positivity or negativity.

In 2005, the National Science Foundation published an article showing that around 80% of the 50,000 subconscious thoughts that we can have throughout the day are… NEGATIVE!!! 🤯

EWWWWWW I am not okay with that! Instead of accepting that as fact, lets change it!


Time for change. Change your belief system with affirmations.

How can you change your belief system with affirmations?

Have clear goals. You need to know exactly what it is that you want in your life and you need to be direct. 

Come up with a positive, strong and honest description of your situation and then create your affirmations from there.

You need to be able to trust and believe in your own words otherwise they won’t be worth much and in return will not help to recreate your subconscious mind and reality. Repeating your affirmations out loud multiple times a day is very powerful and important! 

I know this might be silly but… record yourself saying your affirmations. Plug them into your headphones and just listen to them every day. It is best if you can repeat them out loud by speaking them but this might not be realistic with your day to day life. At the least, do the best you can to have the affirmations in your thought process. Listening to them and just repeating them inside of your head is still you taking conscious action.

It’s still helping.
Taking the action is working you towards the higher goal. 

What I like to do is, on my lunch break go to my car and I turn my affirmations onto my Bluetooth radio, close my eyes and repeat. Another way that I take action, I go into the locker room at my work during lunch or really any time. (There’s not a lot of ladies in my work.) I will sit in the back of the locker room and just repeat my affirmations, do meditations or yoga and no one is bothering me. Trust me, I do it for the safety of everyone else at work. 😂 (Sometimes you need a couple minutes to just ground yourself. You feel me?)


Powerful affirmations.

What are the most powerful affirmations? 

You want affirmations that trigger the strongest positive emotions. The ones that will want you to get up and take action… or cry happy tears. 😂

Affirmations should be personal to you but do not need to be. (One of my favorite affirmation routines is on Spotify.) Manifestation works better when they are personal though. It gives the Universe a more clear path to YOUR goals. So it’s not like I can tell you what you should be saying, but at least I can give you examples of affirmations and then you can tweak them to be more personal and in alignment to YOU.

Affirmation for health:

Every cell in my body is healthy and gives me energy.

My body grows stronger every day.

Affirmation to attract money: 

I am a money magnet, money is drawn to me.

There is an abundance of wealth available to me whenever I’m ready to receive it.

Affirmation for joy and happiness:

My happiness is my choice and responsibility and I’m working towards being happy every day of my life.

I surround myself with positive and supportive people.

Affirmation for self-love:

Self-love is a choice and I’m grateful that I can make that choice every day.

I was created for a purpose.

How long does it take for affirmations to work?

How long does it take for affirmations to work?

There’s no clear answer on that. It really depends on you and how you’re taking action. But know that when used correctly, they can profoundly increase your motivation, energy, and enthusiasm.

Ask yourself some questions:

 Are you repeating your affirmations every single day?

Are you truly believing in it?

How big are your goals? 

Do you practice often?

Are your limiting beliefs deep rooted?

Any other manifestation blocks that might stand in your way? 


Change your life with manifesting adventure.

Can affirmations change your life? 

Only YOU can change your life. Affirmations are just a tool you can use to do this. It’s rewiring your subconscious mind to actually believe in these positive things that you want out of life. So yeah, certainly you can have a strong impact on how you feel and how you behave by changing your subconscious mind with affirmations and The Law of Attraction. 

Affirmations won’t work if you don’t believe them. 

If you don’t believe your affirmations they could potentially only be working on a conscious level but it’s important to rewire your subconscious mind. There’s a lot of crap hidden in our minds that need to be identified and released.

So, understand listening to affirmations works, reading them out loud works, writing them down works. 

Don’t overwhelm yourself with trying to have too many. Start small. Understand how this works, get in a good routine, in a good habit and then from there you can always add on and the sky’s the limit. 

Even if you’re not consciously manifesting, in our subconscious we’re always manifesting something without consciously remembering it. Now are these negative things that you’re manifesting because of your subconscious and your limiting beliefs? Yeah, could be. So this is you taking control over the process and flipping the switch on what potentially, in your subconscious, is negative and turning it into positive and getting the life that you want and deserve.
